Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony star in the movie El Cantante, the dramatic-biography of Puerto Rican salsa pioneer Hector Lavoe.

The tale follows Lavoe’s (Mark Anthony) passionate relationship with Puchi (Jennifer Lopez) from his early-career success as a Puerto Rican teen sensation to his later status as a New York City Latin idol while also documenting his ongoing struggle against drug and alcohol addiction. But even when he has it all, Lavoe is unable to escape the allure of drugs and his personal pain. El Cantante is rated R for drug use, pervasive language and some sexuality. The film hits theaters August 3rd.
