The Top Players Del 2007

Dec 31st, 2007

What were the top artist of 2007? The players that made the most impact in Latin Music or just kept us fascinated over the past 12 months? We sat down and debated which songs, artists, and albums were our favorites and complied a list of the ‘Top Players Del 2007.’

Casa De LeonesBest New Artist: Casa de Leones
At first, Casa del Leones claim to being the puertorriqueno reggaeton equivalent to the Wu-Tang Clan may seem boastful or reaching. However, Jowell y Randy, Guelo Star, Maximan, and J-King have proven with their self titled debut album that they are the force they claim to be. Their debut single, “No Te Veo,” was an immediate hit and their follow-up single, “Shorty” and “Que Paso Yal” solidify them as the ‘Hottest Reggaeton Duo of 2007.’ itunes Discography | Amazon Discography

Kat DelunaBest Pop Artist: Kat DeLuna
The 19-year-old Dominicana from the Bronx was everywhere this past summer. The week her debut album 9 Lives was released, “Whine Up” featuring Elephant Man, had already been on the Hot 100 chart for two months and steadily climbing to the tops of the dance, R&B, and Latin charts. Her single was heard everywhere from the Top 40, Hip-hop, and Latin music stations to ball games, WWE Summerslam, and TV trailers. Although a new artist, Kat Deluna deserves to be on this list purely because of how far here music reached. itunes Discography | Amazon Discography

Wisin & YandelBest Reggaeton Artist/Album: Wisin vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres
Wisin & Yandel had a tremendous year, releasing a remix of their 2006 hit album Los Vaqueros, collaborations with David Bisbal, Eve and an appearance on Echo Presenta: Invasion, releasing their very own Zune Music Player and the release of Los Extraterrestres. The album, which features collaboration with Tony Dize, Eve, Don Omar, and Franco de Vita, is hands down one of the best album the duo has ever released and maybe even the best album in all of Reggaeton. Can Wisin & Yandel really top themselves in 2008? Only time will tell. itunes Discography | Amazon
