Javier Bardem in No Country For Old Men

Winning best actor awards is nothing new for Javier Bardem. The former member of the Spanish National ruby team has made over two dozen films in his native country of Spain, but became an international star with his starring role in the critically acclaimed Before Night Falls. With this role, he became the first Spanish actor to receive an Academy Award nomination.

In 2002, Javier starred in John Malkovich’s directorial debut, The Dancer Upstairs. Two years later he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his role as an assisted-suicide activist Ramón Sampedro in The Sea Inside. That same year he made a brief appearance as a vicious crime lord in the crime drama Collateral. Now, Javier has been nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance as the chilling sociopathic hitman Anton Chigurhin in No Country For Old Men. With this role, he became the first Spanish actor to win the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

With over 25 movies and numerous awards under his belt, Javier is set to star in Woody Allen’s upcoming film Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The flim also stars Scarlett Johansson, Penélope Cruz and Patricia Clarkson.
